Just buy the JR Universal Inkjet refill kits - about £7.99 (colour) and £5.99 (black) - Morrisons were doing a buy one get one free offer recently!
Easy job - about 10 mins!
Just use a knife (without slashing your wrists or fingers) and pop the top off! Find the correct compartments for the relevant colours and top up - don't over fill as it will pour out of the heads at the bottom! AND don't touch the foil! When done just put a little tape across the top to keep the lid on!
Then just realign your print heads and clean in All In One Centre

most HP printers come with a cartridge that includes a new print head - this is because their life expectancy is only good for one tank of ink - you CAN refill them, by drilling a small hole in the top (or finding an existing hole that is sealed with a plug) but as the print head is only made of copper foil, don't expect it to last forever. Epson printers come with a permanent (long-life) head - the refills for epson are just a tank of ink (and a special mickey mouse electronic gizmo to monitor ink level and nag you to buy genuine Epson ink refills)

I use my laser printer most of the time and the inkjet occasionally.
My inkjet cartridges would dry up not run out. You can not refill dried out cartridges without cleaning them first.
What worked for me, many companies on the net sell you prepaid mailers. You pop your old cartridge in it send it to them, and they send you back a refilled and guaranteed cartridge.
For my machine HP sells 2 versions of the same cartridge. One full and one half full for less. The service fully filled all versions.
I could not remember the place I used but below are similar ones:

refills are made from cheap nasty ink - they can damage your printer and give bad quality prints. also they tend to be mae from thoose ones you throw in the recyling bins so they can be slightly damaged too.
it is a false economy as you will end up throwing away many unsatifactory copys.
also if the printer is new it can invalidate your warrenty to use refills- so check that out too.
i know that you have already bought it now- but lexmark tend to be the most expensive for consumables and hp the cheapest (for next time!)
