Brain....

The human brain is the most anterior part of the central nervous system and, by way of the cranial nerves and spinal cord, controls the peripheral nervous system and regulates virtually all human activity.Involuntary, or "lower," actions, such as heart rate, respiration, and digestion, are unconsciously governed by the brain, specifically through the autonomic nervous system. Complex, or "higher," mental activity, such as thought, reason, and abstraction, is consciously controlled.

Which is the most important part of a human being can't be explained because each one has a uniqe function to control. As you can see that most of the answers say that the brain is the most import but i may say it to be contradictory because if there is only brain it can't control anything !,so brain is entirely dependent on other parts of the body especially the stomach, for the food. Some say it is the heart but it needs a brail to make it function. As you see all the prats are essential so,all are equally important. But if you ask as a one word answer in my view the stomach, because it is the food giving father to all the parts!!!!!!!!!!!.

Brain, because you won't live without it, or, without some parts of it, you would be the same as a veggie...
Also, the heart. The heart is an involuntary organ, it means that it can work also without the brain. The heart has some specialized cells, the so-called "pacemaker" cells (there are three major pacemakers in the heart), that are able to initiate contraction, spontaneously, without inputs from the brain. However, the nervous system can modulate the heart rhythm (accelerate, decelerate): there is a centre, for the control of the heart, located in the region of the brain stem (just under the brain, between brain and spinal cord). This centre sends inputs, or signals, which travel through nerves and reach the heart, modulating its rhythm if necessary.
Another important part of the body are the lungs, because they are necessary to breathe. Without them, you can't breathe.
I think that the intestine is also important, because it is the place where resorption of nutrients and water occurs. I think it is more important than the stomach, because the stomach is the place where gastric digestion occurs, but the food nutrients are not reabsorbed there, they are reabsorbed later, in the intestine, through the villi. In this way, these nutrients can enter the blood.
Another important organ...well...actually a gland, is the parathyroid. It is extremely important because it regulates calcium levels, so that the nervous and muscle systems can function correctly. You know, nerves and muscles need calcium in order to do their function. The parathyroid glands are located within the thyroid glands, which are also important, but the parathyroid is considered more imp. In fact, when you undergo surgery to remove the thyroids, it is important not to remove the parathyroids. There are other important glands in the body, for example the adrenal glands, which produce important hormones (i.e. adrenaline, noradrenaline, aldosterone, cortisol...).
Another important organ is the liver: without it, you'll die, if you don't undergo a transplant. The liver has several roles in carbohydrate & lipid metabolism, it produces coagulation factors, but also anticoagulants. Its stores numerous substances, foe example vitamin B12, iron and glycogen. It breaks down toxic substances, it converts ammonia to urea.
The kidneys are also important if you don't want to undergo dialysis for your entire life! They are important because they filter wastes from the blood and extrete them. They also regulate water excretion and reabsorption, and are involved in the acid-base balance (together with the lungs).
The pancreas is important too, because it secretes digestive enzymes and hormones (insulin and glucagon).
Personally, I would say that the eyes are really important. They are not necassary to live, but they are necessary to live a beautiful life, full of colours, images. That's why I believe they are also important organs.
Body organs can be vital and non-vital. Vital organs are those that are usually vital to the body's existance: for example, brain, liver, heart, intestine, lungs, kidney...
Examples of non-vital organs are eyes, spleen, testes/ovaries...
In conclusion, I believe there's not a unique-most important part of the body, but the human body can work properly because of the interaction of many different parts.

The brain because it's the only part that can't be replaced. For example the artificial hearts or hands or legs that work with batteries and if a human uses them he still feels like a human and thinks like human.
But if humans brain is replaced by a computer or even by another one's brain, every thing will change, the way he feels, the way he thinks , …the way he dreams, because the part which is called "me" is changed …

It is difficult to point out a single organ which is essential. No two organs of the body can share a single function. So every organ is critical. Heart cannot substitute kidneys, liver cannot substitute stomach and so on. But even if u have to figure out a single organ it must be brain. Because artificial kidney is possible, heart transplants can be carried out. Similarly liver, cornea, skin, etc. can be transplanted. we can live without appendix, reproductive organs, eyes, etc. but any anomaly in brain cannot be substituted by any other organ nor it can be transplanted.

All parts of the body are important in one way or the other. If the kidney is not functioning, what use is that of the heart or any other part. In other words, each part has their importance.

All parts of the body are important. Since we had all those so we became human and moreover each organ had its own identity and function, so we can't tell which organ is more important than other. Atlast, every organ is important to human being.
