Just a random thought. I'm sure everyone goes into something with the purpose of gaining something. I'm sure people don't just see someone down the street and say to themselves "I want to love that person" (BASED ON WHAT!!!?) "So I'm gonna do this song and dance for whatever weeks, months or years..."

So is it correct to say that love is based on interest, no matter how creepy it is?

I'm sure there's a romantic answer to the big 'how we met' question. But I think that in the beginning, interest (no matter hwo vain) does play a part as a reason for selection. How is it that people call it unconditional love? Everything does come to float. Do they lower their standards?

I'm sorry the word hidden agenda was to creepy for some. It's more like 'ulterior motives'.

My husband and myself have never denied the "agenda" as you call it, of our meeting. We both admit that we thought the other was hot, and wanted to hook up. It was much later, after being together and then separate for several months, that we realized what we had and that "it" was more than just lust. We got back together, and have been married for almost 6 years. So as to if LOVE is based on interest, I'd say no. Lust is. Love comes later.

This is why I am single now, people always seem to have a deep seated hidden agenda and when it surfaces you are usually so far in love with that person that you are in denial that person is using you and harboring something else for you, other than love. So I keep my distance and am very happy being on my own now. I think I have had enough of relationships, or should I say so-called relationships. =)

Most people fight falling in love...so for that statement to be true, people would really have to be sick and disturbed...it would be like a revenge back-up plan...? "If I fall in love...then ..I'm gonna get that bank account and make it MINE! Mua ha ha ha!"

Umm.. no I don't think so. You are right that people don't plan on falling in love..So, if you don't plan on falling in love, how can there be an agenda?
