I personnaly look forward to snow, I've never been stranded and the amount of snow we actually get is pathetic. They use words like 'chaos'! Chaos? Is it? Is it really? Just because a few idoits don't know how to drive?!

Scare tactics. Scaremongering by the media has been a big thing for a while now. People like shock and horror and they can identify with it this way. This also shows that in the UK life is relatively easy with nothing major to report, people are not suffering etc. Apart from the crime, of course. But we've got our very lenient justice system to blame for that.

I am from UK, but live in Norway. The amount of snow in UK compared to here is like comparing a bucket full of sand and the Sahara!

It is indeed the idiots who drive at normal speeds in UK that cause danger, especially with tyres that are not designed for snow conditions. In Scandinavia, cars have to by law have winter tyres on for 4-6 months.

Generally the news media report EVERYTHING negatively - except at the very end of the news when they say something about a fluffy tiger kitten being adopted by a kangaroo, or something. I think they think good news is no news.

The easy answer is that bad news sells good news doesn't so if they report it in a negative manner they are more likely to sell it
