saw this on a tv game show.number games i dont get.can anyone help.

Mate they are just stupid on these game shows. If they told how they get the answer then fair enough, but how on Earth is anybody supposed to get that?
Backwards 551 + 28 +7 =586 incorrect
Upside down doesn't work.
619 is the same upside down - clue?
I dunno give up.

BTW.. I got to 619 the other night like this:
Derby 7 miles
Leeds 82 miles
Durham 155 miles
first line:
seven = 7
second line:
eighty two = 8+80+82+2= 172
third line:
one fifty five= 1+150+155+50+55+5=416
Roman numerals:
seven = V = 5
eighty two = I = 1
one fifty five = I+IV+I+V = 11
The 1 in 155 could be read as an I = 1
The word ‘mile’ 3 times =3
The word ‘miles’ 3 times =3
Add it all together = 619

How about 619 - 7 - 82 - 155 = 375.
375 + 7 + 82 + 155 = 619.

These TV quizes never add up to an obvious answer. I remember channel hopping past one of these shows on ftn a while ago and the same question was on for a whole week!!
You'll need to put the question up EXACTLY as they asked it for me to have a stab at getting 619. They use all sorts of tricks to get their figures. For example they could include the word miles as one of the things you need to add.

They never divulge the method of arriving at the figure. I think they just wait until the number of people paying to dial in starts to dry up then pick a winner at random.

Well, you clearly DON'T get it by addition. The sum of those three distances is 244 miles; so either your instruction to "add the miles", or your result, is out to lunch.

I watched that show to!! I cant help you tho i never bothered waiting for the answer it got boring!! ome people were giving answers like 3 and 2845??????? Not a clue.
