Since the "red states" are the ones filled with Republicans, how
come the red states lead the nation in violent crime, divorce, illegitimacy and incarceration among other evils?

You are obviously not capable of independent thought and watch way too much cnn (communist news network).

If you have the slightest shred of intelligence (and based upon your question you do not), you'd understand that the two worst states for crime, divorce, etc. are california and new york (also see liberal extremist cesspool)

It appears [to me] that Mr. Wolcott didn't research his story too accurately. As a matter of fact there is a serious absence of quoted sources.

I did some off hand research and I dare say found that liberal states were the mecca of crime and payola.

Try and find a state [close] to California for crime and of course the Big Dig is the biggest scam of all time.

Heh, like how they just claimed red states did accounted for x while blue states did y and gave no state name, gave no indication for criteria, gave no indication how they came up with those figures. I will say though I am not surprised that red states have higher prison populations, we throw our criminals in jail, we don't give probation to child molestors because prison might be too hard on them. The article gives no real data to be disputed.

any you use Vanity Fair for an authority on this? That publication is only one notch higher than the national enquirer. Will you liberals ever give up. . Since when did these become red states? Idiots I say.

As a "Red Stater", I must take exception to both your tone and conclusions. I am an educated, somewhat cultured man who enjoys attending the theater, ballet and symphony, yet I can also joke and party with the most redneck men in America. So before you get on your high horse, my good man, do yourself a favor and get to know some of us. Your silly preconceptions and exaggerated conclusions might just change if you become more open-minded.

well, lets take pennsylvania for instance. its a blue state by a few thousand votes. so swing it the other way to red and it would have been "filled" w/ gopers? your logic is juvenile when our country is near equal for both parties in voter turnout.

The GOP dominated states adopt a failed philosophy that doesn't promote investments in human capital entitlements which ensures future economic growth. Those state governments seldom invest in their infrastructure, education and poverty. Income inequality, which leads to more violence and effects rich and poor and reduces the overall health of communities, controls those areas and the GOP-controlled govt.'s do not care about the negative results of income inequality. The GOP exhorts personal responsiblity however countless children are born into poor families and personal responsiblity is unacceptable. It will take decades to get the red states back on track.
