I agree that children shouldn't swear and that includes teenagers in an academic environment, but to say that an adult cannot have freedom of speech? Now that would be evil.

I swear, and let me say this. It is not an evil thing to do. Who gets to decide azz is bad but butt is okay. It's a word. And only a word. My opinion is that people need to grow up and stop judging others. I am not judging you I am simply telling you my opinion. The only reason that "swear" words are bad is because 1) people say so 2) people give it attention and that is why some people do it 3) people make a big deal about it. If you don't like it, I can only suggest you ignore it, because new words are invented everyday. Do you plan to see that movie Norbit with Eddie Murphy? Guess what Norbit stands for? ****** + Morbid (obesity) = the ghetto name Norbit.... I don't like the word ******, being that I am black and all, but I just won't give it any attention. It doesn't deserve any. That is my opinion of course, but I would still never say...that's evil. No it's not. It's a word and people have every right to use whichever they want. The real question to me is why don't people respect their elders or other people's children. I cuss, yes I do...but never ever in front of my elders and others people children. IF my friends are uncomfortable with my verbiage then I suggest they find other friends.

Well, it's not really evil, unless it takes the lord's name in vain. But it has become so common place it has lost all meaning. You see it everywhere. It's just not the taboo thing it once was. That's why I like to make up new swear words, just to be original and so I can use them in public because I work in retail and S#!% and F*(%$ are very rude to some people and you just don't say things like that around customers.

Not everyone swears. In fact, I can remember times of going months without hearing a swear word. Just depends on the type of people that are around.

Sorry quit swearing when my daughter was born. Actions speak louder than words and I wanted to set a decent example.

To me, they are just words. A few letters arranged in a specific order are not the end of the world, nor are they "evil". They are simply words with which to express oneself. Anyway, it's so much fun to say f*ck.

Who is the one who has determined what words are deemed bad? A word is just a word, you could use any word as a swear word if it is used in that context.

I don't know but it's getting on my nerves. I used to think we were better cultured than to be vulgar and obscene, especially in public, but, at least in the U.S., we have no dignity anymore. Shame on us!
