I sort of have the same feeling for both...both were good in the '80's... I couldnt pick one as the best.

I saw a concert with GNR and Metallica (+ Faith No More).
Metallica put on an awesome intense show.
All I remember about GNR was that Axel Rose is a pathetic cry baby who spent more time insulting the audience and venue than performing.
