I am full-figured woman. I just started taking belly dancing classes at school and I have a blue hip scarf with lots of coins. Is it cool/acceptable for me to wear my hip scarf outside of class? I wanted to wear it over my new dark blue jeans, a cute new top, and boots I have. Will I look odd or should I just go for it?

Help please and thank you (-:

Belly dancing belts look good with most things...(I belly dance too)
and I think you should go for it... belly dancing is about a woman feeling empowered in her body, and embracing the "goddess" inside... show everyone how awesome you are, coz you can move your body and are able to understand and express your femininity... the only drawback might be that the coins will drive you dilly from clinking all day... and might annoy other people too, so maybe just be sensitive to WHEN you actually wear it and WHERE... GO FOR IT YOU GODDESS YOU!!!!!!!!

Will it not be a little heavy? I'm not casting doubts, but by the time you've got the sequins, bells etc on, it might be a little cumbersome. Lucky you, though, to be able to do it. The classes in my gym are never at a convenient time. Have seen it done in Tunisia, and the dancer had a very light chiffon scarf embroidered and beaded.

Absolutely. I've worn something similar before and it looked awesome. I don't know about the boots though, but that's just me; I have something of a personal vendetta against boots.

if that's what makes you feel beautiful you go for it sweetheart. no one wants to look at cookie cutter girls, at least no one i want to talk to. i think it will be spectacular, just don't beg for people's approval when you walk out the door, don't wear it, own it. if you feel great about how you look that's what people will see.

I think you should wear whatever you feel COMFORTABLE wearing.. I mean, how 'new' must an outfit be, if your comfortable enough to carry it, why not?.. we dont know, you might start of a new trend.. ;p
