log a (8x+5) = log a (4x+29)
simplify it to 8x+5 = 4x+29
8x-4x = 29-5
4x = 24
x=24/4
thus x = 6

Note that if log G = log H then G = H
Therefore in this case:-
8x + 5 = 4x + 29
8x - 4x = 29 - 5
4x = 24
x = 6
