I shouldn't tell you this but the emergency thing to do at a point like this while you go buy an Anti Virus. I've gone thru it several times and lost alot of important files I KNOW IT SUX. The way is to stop every program from loading without your permmision... My way of doing it is by:
Click... Start

Click... Run

Type... msconfig

Click... StartUp TAB

Then Click Disable All

So that the spy ware or virus won't load up after you restart your computer. It will automatically restart and only the programs you choose to work will load.... Just don't mess with any other feature on the System Configuration window... After you do that go buy an anti virus and once you install it go ahead and and enable everything again thru the same steps *Not necessary though*

I only tell you cause I went thru it many times before a friend tought me how... If you have any questions go ahead and E-mail me at Frances_16us@yahoo.com or IM me. Good luck

There are a few things you can do...

1. If you know the name of the spyware, or even the name of the file that it plants on your computer, do a Google search on it, and find out what can be done to remove it.

2. Run several different spyware programs (not simultaneously). One may catch what the others don't. I'll list some of the more effective and popular spyware removal programs in the source area below.

3. Do all Windows updates by going to http://update.microsoft.com/ Many of these updates are actually security patches that prevent spyware from returning

4. If you're feeling particularly brave, open up Task Manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and go to the processes tab. See which processes seem unfamiliar or spyware-ish (like save.com) and stop the process, then locate that file by doing a search on your hard drive for where it is. If you're SURE it's spyware, you can then delete it and do another spyware scan.

If you think you have spywares and you can't detect them, then try to backup all your essentials on a Blank disc, such as music files, etc...

Once you have backed up your most important stuffs, perform a reinstallation of the OS, which will bring back your computer to brand new... Please note that you would need the OS CD.

Yes, not all the time a spyware can be detected, and this is so inconvenient... If you are a careless person and do not know much about computer technology, please try purchasing a Mac.

Mac computers do not catch spywares and virsues as easy compares to Windows PCs.

A Mac will protect you while you are outside playing as late as you want, but a PC will not protect you. A PC is made for responsible people who are aware of the most dangerous threat ever.

Try to rerun you anti-spyware and also run your anti-virus. If it is not effective, then if I were you, I'd format my hard drive and re-install my computer software, so as to get rid of it. However, most of the latest anti-spyware and anti-viruses should be able to detect, isolate and quarantine it.

Once you do that you may want to upgrade your anti-virus and anti-spyware as well as getting a firewall. Also, if you got the spy-file from making an illegal download, then stop illegally downloading stuff or stop using illegal copies of software. Spy files are one way companies prevent/reduce illegal downloads/copies of their intellectual properties.
