My friend says religion will be weeded out eventually in the U.S. Is this possible? What are some of the reasons why or why not?

The biggest issues that the Christian community faces is the overpowering activist groups. Because many more people are turning to atheism, and the many more people who have come into the US who are Indian, Islamic, Muslim are not recognized, the activist are trying to push religion (and/or) Christian belief out of the picture. It all began with being...Politically Correct...(oh, how I hate that term) and being non-invasive or 'A die hard Christian US' that is making people crazy.

As long as the Christian community refuses to let the government, most especially congress, change our Constitutional rights, they can only suppress by hanging the 'not being politically correct' on our foreheads. It's like having to ware a sign that says...666 or die.

I for one, am totally opposed to having people tell me what my correct behavior, speech or religion should be as NOT TO OFFEND others whose religions are not recognized like the Christian.

To me...even the Islam religion is Christian because they believe in God. There is belief system there, and same goes for Jewish or any other religion.

Then there is this thing about people getting numbered with a computer chip, which is beneath the skin for that huge super-computer that the EU is developing.

I'm not going to be a number...and I'm not going to have any @amn micro-chip put under my skin.

I think you know the rest, if you're a Christian person. God help us!

Yes. If our country goes toward socialist tenancies. Like taking oil profits. Religion will be changed forever. Socialist governments are well documented on having a hatred for religion. Many have noted that most Religious people are not as intelligent as the non-religious. Because they have to believe in a fairy tail. A good proof of this is a man was sent to prison for preaching hate in a church. You know what he preached. It is a sin to be gay in Gods eyes. This is in the Bible. He was put in jail for preaching thew gospel. Guess where he preached at? China NO Russia NO!
Canada. Yep Canada. What is more important? Gay rights, Black rights, Right to worship as you see fit. Alot of the gay rights groups want the Churches to stop peraching that Bible verse. The Seperation of Church from the State is a joke. Will the Church morals seep into the state or will the state morals seep into the church. I do not believe in state morality. Do you.

Religion cannot be weeded out because the Constitution protects the right of the people to choose a religion.

No religion will not be eliminated from the United States. This country was developed by religious people. It has references to God in too many legal and political proceedings.

The only thing that I hope is that people not be so fanatical and one sided as it comes to religion and they learn to respect the fact that other people have other ideas. That is not to say that someone should continue to live their life by their beliefs, but do not expect someone else to live by those same beliefs. And please do not try to run the entire country and make every political decision, foreign and domestic, using a religious mind set.

Actually I could say it will be just the opposite. From what has transpired over the last 8 years or so I could see a day when we have a state religion as opposed to no religion. No your friend was just wishful thinking.

Religion is a very personal thing. You cannot "weed" out peoples thoughts and beliefs.

A lot less people attend church when compared with a few decades back

Many less people are raising their children in any religion

Fewer and fewer people are following The Ten Commandments

People are working on their day of Sabbath (Saturday or Sunday)

Cutting out prayer in public is not helping matters

Trying to remove religious words from historic buildings is definitely a bad thing

Teachers with bias against religion are teaching our children

The real problem is that even in two-parent homes, both parents are working full-time, and even overtime. They do not have the time to teach their children to pray--much less bring them to a house of worship.

Another problem is that people who do not believe in God are spreading that to people who may. Everyone should keep their religion or lack of religion in their homes, in their hearts, and in their house of worship. Just because John Doe doesn't believe in God, doesn't mean he needs to tell Joe Blow that religion is bogus!

Hmm... do you think he meant "religion" will be weeded out, or "Christianity" will be weeded out? I think neither, as long as we maintain our Constitution, but some people like to use fear tactics to make it look like there's a terrible War on Religion (by which they mean, Christianity) taking place.

I THINK A LOT OF IT CAN BE PUT OUT TO PASTURE AS PEOPLE REALIZE THAT COMMOM SENSE IS ALL YOU NEED INSTEAD OF A HOLY BOOK THAT IS SO NEGATIVE AND DOESNT MAKE SENSE. IM NOT JUST POINTING AT THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE BUT ALL HOLY BOOKS AROUND THE GLOBE. RELIGION IS MAN MADE, AND SUPPOSEDLY INSPIRED BY GOD. AS MANKIND PROGRESSES INTO SPACE TRAVEL AND GOES BEYOND THE ENDS OF THEIR NOSES WE THE PEOPLE WILL BE AMAZED AT THE FINDINGS ABOUT HUMAN AND ALL LIFE. WE ARE ALL ONE IN CREATION. RELIGION IS NOT AN EXACT STUDY OHERWISE THERE WOULDNT BE SO DARN MANY OF THEM.; WE FOLKS ON THIS EARTH PLANET ARE ALL ONE AND CREATED , WE WERE `CREATED IN DIFFERENT AREAS MILLIONS OF YEARS AGO ALONG WITH THOUSANDS OF SPECIES OF ANIMALS. WHEN CONDITIONS WERE PERFECT FOR CREATION. ALL THESE CHURCHES AROUNG THE PLANET I HOPE EVENTUALLY WILL OPEN THEIR DOORS TO SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AND OTHER STUDIES THAT ARE EXACT AND HAVE POOR CHILDREN AND ALL CHILDREN ALIKE COME AND LEARN. THIS COULD BE IN ADDITION TO THEIR SCHOOL WORK. WE HAVE GOT TO OBTAIN WORLD PEACE AND TRANQUILITY AND IT CAN BE DONE. NASA, THE EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY, AND THE RUSSIAN PROGRAM ALONG WITH OTHER NATIONS EVENTUALLY MUST WORK TOGETHER AND GET WORLD PEACE ESTABLISHED AND PUT ALL THE HOLY BOOKS IN A MUSEUM AND LET THEM COLLECT DUST. YOU CAN WAIT TILL YOU ARE PURPLE AND COVERED WITH MOLD AND JESUS CHRIST AND ALLAH, MOHAMMAD ETC ARE NOT COMING BACK. SORRY TO UPSET YOUR LITTLE RED WAGON BUT THATS THAT. WE ARE ONE PEOPLE ON ONE PLANET.

Well, for one thing, subjective magical-thinking breeds feeble-mindedness. All humans are spiritual. We all wonder where we come from, what the meaning of life is and what happens to us when we die. Our natural spirituality is individual and good. Just look at children before they are enculturated to hate and intolerance. Long ago, power mongers hijacked our natural spirituality and twisted it into a maintained-ignorance, fear based form of animal husbandry to control and manipulate people politically. For example, the fundamental Christian Evangelicals, 40 million strong, as their own leaders reported in "Faith and Nation" last fall that they advocate the violent overthrow of the U.S. government if their radical "one-and-only-pure-and-correct" set of "virtues" are not made into legislation. There are 13,000 separate and bickering versions of Christian faiths in the U.S. alone. In a nation based on a pluralistic common ground where all may practice their own faith and may have their own private spiritual beliefs, it is disturbing to say the least that many so-called religious groups today are practicing fascism and are posting on their websites how to "bring down" any University that teaches that tolerance is good. (!) The FBI considers many of these so-called religions and their fascist intentions to impose their pet set of virtues on the rest of us to be serious, well-funded declared threats to our national security.
