I am a very liberal independent.
I'm actually afraid that the republican's have a much better chance than you proclaim. Bush IS an abomination, and that is why you will see a majority (esp. the successful ones) avoiding him and Cheney during the campaign more than second-hand pot smoke and homosexuals that work in abortion clinics.
The religious right is a terrifyingly strong and effective lobby. A vast majority of upper-middle class and above Americans are fiscal-conservatives, and their greed out ways their need for freedom and common sense. People who feel unborn fetus' and one's personal checkbook are the most important things in this coutry are soley responsible for this soon to be 8 year reign of Dubbya.
AND the completely ineffectual Democratic party.
I don't see Edwards winning, I just simply don't think much of him and frankly his connection to Kerry is harmful.
Obama and Hillary, just their basic categories (an African American and a woman) are enough to strike fear and hatred in the ignoramous'es of the country to mobilize them to the polls against either one.
Not to mention Obama's lack of a record and that personally, Hillary is absolutely Public Enemy number muther efffing one amongst Rush Limbaugh and O'Reilly's zombie-like followers.
I don't know who is out there that has a chance. Personally I'm leaning towards wanting Obama to win, not that I find it realistic.
I am afraid the best we may be able to hope for (and possible expect) is a moderate Republican like McCain. Hopefully he doesn't sell his sould to the devil's of fundementalists completely.

Edwards has a sizeable lead in Iowa. In New Hampshire, if Hillary loses, she might as well go home to NY because it's a New England state that loved her husband in 1992 & 1996. But, if she wins big, she'll be in the race to the finish. She will also have the largest campaign war chest ($). After that comes Super Tuesday. The south and western states will determine who will become the nominee. Edwards is a southerner & will do well since he has a track record there. Obama may cut in and do well in the south, too--GA, AL, MI, FL. And he & Hillary will do well in the midwestern & great lakes states. Richardson will win NM, AZ, UT, maybe OK and TX. The nomination will be decided upon who wins CA, WA and OR. It will be between Hillary, Obama and Edwards. I'll vote for Edwards, but will support the nominee against any GOP candidate.

Edwards CLEARLY has the best chance in the general election...
FAR too many people dislike Hillary and Obama is black and is inexperienced... both will hurt him...
but the REAL trick here is... who will the Republicans run that will give Edwards a run? especially in the South where Edwards is from...
Rudy? in the south? NYC social liberal? that could be trouble for them...
McCain, when he's very disliked?
Mitt... a Mormon in the south?
Edwards may not be LOVED in the south... but he's looking pretty good compared to these guys all of a sudden...
and Republicans have to have the south to win, bush carried it both times and still barely won...
but Hillary and Obama will both lose all the south... I would be willing to bet, which wouldn't be good...
and this whole Edwards bloger thing? like 5 people care... seriously... and they are all voting Republican already... this issue has no mass appeal and only people who would rather die than vote dem care...
but it could be tough for him to get through the primaries... we'll see?

Hillary is way too divisive, has too much baggage, and not very likable. Obama is fairly charismatic, and a good speaker, but too inexperienced, maybe in the future, but not now. Yes, I think Edwards has the best chance of the three. Don't be so sure about the republicans. A lot can happen in the next 2 years. As a matter of fact, I think that historically, the candidate who is the front runner early on is never the one who gets the nomination. It's just too early to tell.

I do not have a political party affiliation and always try to vote for the best person. I do not agree with your comment about the Republicans not having a snow ball's chance in hell to win the presidential election. If Giuliani runs the Republicans may have a good chance. John Edwards seems to be a good man but I will have to learn more about him before I would vote for him. This will be an interesting election.

I am a lifelong Democrat and I think its a disgrace we don't have a decent candidate except the three top runners. John Edwards had his problems with his wife and I blame her for losing his bid for the white house.
I think the best and smartest talent we have in this country refuse to run for the top office as this country as turned the office as President into a circus.
How can the Republicans even lift their heads with a President like Bush? what a clown
Hillary or Obama...one obnoxious and the other inexperienced
Yes, the Republicans will lose big time but where is a candidate for the democrats that shows he has the experience and the class to be our leader?

No. The media frenzy surrounding Clintama has pushed Edwards to the wayside - in hardship-free words element I heard about his participation is the talk very last evening grow to be that he tried to interject into the argument, and failed.....Clintama ought to look uncivil and infantile, yet purely as Jerry Springer and the authentic international have managed to thrive with the yankee public, so will they.....

snow balls chance in hell?
you have the socialist wife of an impeached, disbarred and philandering ex-president.
A pretty face with almost no experience and 0 foreign policy exp, basically an empty suit with a nice smile also pushing a socialist program.
One guy who cant even compliment his opponents without sounding like a bigot.
and a guy who allows people who spew out anti church bile to continue holding positions in his committee when they would have been fired had they defamed a different race or sexual preference.
Yeah... you got a great group of candidates there...
couldn't find a failed artist/paper hanger to run for office on a socialist platform? it's worked in the past for "Liberal" parties.
if you do want to win, then pick candidates that run more to center than the far left as you seem to prefer.
because as much as you like to gloat fact is, the election was not a carte blanch to move towards socialism, and it can very easily slip out of your fingers in 08.
Honestly I can't stand all this posturing, But I can't wait for the real dogfight to begin.
And unless you field a more Moderate candidate, I can assure you, you will not be gloating two years from this date.
