No, spokes are fine, we used to do this. I think it is something parents say so their deck of cards don't get trashed!

No, but pinning your clothes to your bike with a clothes pin and riding down Main Street is never a good idea.

I did that as a kid and it never did anything to my spokes but it did ruin my card.

Yep; a big kid will knock you off your bike, pound you, then stomp on your bike, ruining the spokes.

We always did it when we were kids. It makes such a cool sound. I don't think it hurts the spokes. I always found that it cleaned them up very nicely if you move the card around. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
