Marriage is necessary because it formalises (either before God or the Law) the relationship between spouses and their commitment to one another. The fact that some couples divorce does not mean the institution of marriage failed. Rather those individuals failed to live up to their commitments before God and before the law. Those who fear to take the plunge really are incapable of making or keeping commitments. Again, what fails is not marriage. No one has taken a poll of how many unmarried liaisons fail. Your guess is as good as mine. Indeed, marriage is the more necessary because divorce is too costly, both in terms of the money and the emotional and human costs. Many in our liberal society will rather keep changing sponses like underwears rather than marry. My take is that such people want to eat their cake and have it. Marriage means real love, commitment, responsibility and more improtantly, the assurance of real companionship in middle to old age. Which is why people must work harder to keep their marriage and make it work.

Necessary!
Necessary for what to have sex, No! to live together, No! to Love one another. No! Marriage isn't necessary. Marriage is just something you do when you know that's the person you will grow old with, and have grandchildren with, That's marriage. Necessary!!! No not at all.

I believe in love, with or without marriage, however i may get it.
But ya it's not important, the only guy i have really loved a marriage wasn't possible with him.
So, whatever works for you, some women need it and compromise on other things to have it and some don't. But it is generally the clingy, needy (finacially) women who want it just for the sake of getting married with or without love.

Marriage is necessary if you are committed and if you want a family. Just don't get married for the wrong reasons.

It all really depends on the people involved. I have know couples that were happy together and never married; I have also been lucky to know some very happy married couples. Getting out of an unmarried relationship may be easier only because there would likely be less paperwork.

i dont think u need to marry someone to be totally fulfilled and committed. just as long as u both love each other and are committed to making the relationship work, then marriage isnt an important factor, unless children are involved, then marriage is an ideal factor.

It depends upon your religion and your beliefs. So the answer varies. It could be a yes or a no! But for me, it's a yes because I'm a christian and believes in the validity of that controversial piece of paper! ;)

in a way not, but then you will realize that you want to spend your life with someone that share the same things as you do, that's when marriage becomes a precious thing.
