The smaller heavier ball is used in futsol (spelling??). It is similar to the indoor soccer you are playing. The Nike commercial with Ronaldinho as a kid was futsol.

As for playing indoor soccer goalie. Wear pants and a long sleeve shirt because turf burn hurts. Positioning and reflexs are important. The shots come from close up and you might not have time to react. If you are positioned correctly you can block it with your body. Be more aggresive in coming out and playing the ball with your feet. You can take away a lot of the long passes if you come out a lot. If you come out and play the ball with your feet and don't have a good pass then clear it out to the sides.

you got a raw deal. playing goalie in indoor soccer in like facing a shooting squad. the game is so much faster due to the hard floor and smaller ball. and smaller fields/courts make it none stop shoots with rebounds never going out to get you a break. My recommendation is get yourself mentally right before a game and then just go balls to wall for as long as you can in the game. and know that you will get scored on and just deal with it. the hectic nature of the indoor game is tough but also makes it a lot of fun.

well, you should get some good goalie gloves becuase in indoor soccer the ball is smaller and harder/heavier. Besides making saves, the goalie is responsible to set up counter attacks and breakaways. becuase the pitch is so small, you can even get assists and set up your attacking players with great passes. Good luck, and most of all have fun!

The ball is smaller, heavier, harder? I didn't notice anything like that in all the years I played indoor soccer.

There's not much one can tell a goalkeeper. You need pretty good reflexes (which you have or don't), mustn't be afraid of the ball, be able to take some pain and most of all: protect your legs!

Work on your agility. Jump ropes, do alot of adominal workouts, and work on your foot skills. You will need to dribble more than in the outside game.
