i am 22 weeks pregnant and my Dr says my red blood cells are low, i was given taplets to increase the blood cells. but i will appreciate a list of food one can eat to increase red blood cells. i awards your answers. thanks

Beef liver is especially rich in iron, which increases RBCs. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale. Vitamin C in fruit juices is necessary for RBC production as well. In Asian markets, the bitter melon(ampalaya in Filipino) is known for increasing the volume of blood. Your doctor is correct in prescribing iron and folic acid which is found in your daily prenatal vitamins. And don't forget, drink plenty of fluids. Fluids are necessary for RBC production as well.

Clams are the highest. Alot of cereals have high iron content including Total,Kellogg's Product 19,Cream of Wheat and Malt-o-Meal. Spinach is good and so is shrimp.

I took the iron supplements, and was also advised to eat Total cereal.

Eat a lot of green veges like spinich, brocholi, beans,lettuce and silverbeet.
