Beef liver is especially rich in iron, which increases RBCs. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale. Vitamin C in fruit juices is necessary for RBC production as well. In Asian markets, the bitter melon(ampalaya in Filipino) is known for increasing the volume of blood. Your doctor is correct in prescribing iron and folic acid which is found in your daily prenatal vitamins. And don't forget, drink plenty of fluids. Fluids are necessary for RBC production as well.
