instead of fighting why not join forces

I doubt it very much. If China continues to gain in wealth then there is a chance of her becoming a capitalistic country some day. Fighting China would be a disaster and we wouldn't want to even think about it. I don't like what China stands for, however, they have a right to live as they want without our interference. I have very rich friends in Hong Kong and they seem to be doing well under Chinese rule. I am shocked but China is actually helping us with N. Korea. It is quite possible that this matter may be settled without warfare.

No, not as far as military use. China has had increased influence in Asia since the days of Deng Chao-ping. China is also opening new African trade and cultural ties which should be the bigger eye-catcher. The US has no say in the matter in either areas--Asia or Africa. We can counter influence by changing the ways we make deals with certain nations, be more respectful, and reduce pre-conditioned "strings attached" contracts and projects. The Chinese are building dams, schools, hospitals, and homes at no cost to host countries in exchange for future shipping ports and mineral resource rights. Asia is to be expected. Africa is a new front and new strategy. The US doesn't really see this as a threat, after all it's free market competition.

No China is a force to reckon with and that would be suicide? eh?
China is doing it's best to get into a business with other countries. Read the news and see how they have gone into Africa and had a meeting there today's internet world news read it? Hopefully that will be there stance on things and that Africa gets the aid they need, from someone other than us, because we are knee deep in dudu with the Arabs, and that is a useless waste of money to try and correct it this will take a miracle! trillions of dollars lost to nothing and people are being killed and we are all going to hell if we don't pull out and organize our country and be ready for those incidents with China that are bound to happen in the future, and they do not respect our President at all and they never will. We need a new president and fast and not that profiteering mongral Cheney either!

The US is China's largest trading partner. Not only is the US not going to try to stop this but the forces that be will do all they can to expand it.

Why? Because China has the, or one of the, largest potential markets for goods and services in the history of the world. Yes, the US wants Wal-Mart in China, and its already there. But the US also wants China to buy Boeing's new super jets, and all the other consumer goods that are currently sold in the US.

Are you kidding?
Red China is falling apart from within from it's corrupt Communist and Cultural Corruptive Ways. They have polluted themselves beyond any recognition of civility, and hopefully will fall soon to the revolution of the masses to realistic representitive government, But there's a lot of starvation and misery ahead.
You can try to go on the internet, but the RC govt. has long hidden the misery going on there, from drought to pollution.
Thank God for that, since their desires to drag the US into another WWIII just aren't going to be taken up on. From NK to Iran to Iraq. To their failed missile shots.
Let them pay the piper... Sleep in the bed they've laid for themselves... Fourty years of trying to destroy the US culture from within and underneath... Assassinations of our political leaders from JFK to CA to the lowest levels... And so much more of bio-war and terrorism in the most minute ways from the Great Lakes to our cities and our forests and oceans.
Let them have their Karma! PAYBACK.
Let the People pay the price of never having had the guts to have a representative form of government, but of having just been slakeys of those who rule from above, and wish to kill rather than to respect life.
They deserve what they get, poor, mindless, non responsible souls. And there is no other simple facts: Their situation is like a very old Chinese fortune cookie with toilet paper inside. Good for the bastards who have waged secret war upon the US for so long.
I think the cookie reads, "Eat ****."

I think US is more concerned about North Korea than China, unless China becomes a military threat.
