Mickey Mantle by a long shot. No one is even close to Mantle. Go to www.mickeymantle.com and there is a list of his longest home runs with a brief history of each one. Very interesting stuff.

Actually Mantles homer was in Griffith Stadium in Washington and was ESTIMATED at 565 ft. The 643 ft total is when the ball stopped rolling. Nobody actually saw the ball land and they took the word of a child who found the ball and now they think the ball actually only went 510 feet. Josh Gibson from the old ***** Leagues once came within a couple of feet from hitting the ball completely out of Yankee Stadium during an exhibition game which nobody has ever done. Dave Kingman once hit a ball down a street at Wrigley when he was with the Cubbies that hit a house about 530 feet from home plate...this is an interesting link and you should check it out.

Ruth hit the longest - 650 feet in 1926. Mantle hit one 565 ft that could have come close to that, but it hit the top facade in Yankee Stadium. He also hit one in against the Senators--Griffith Stadium the same distance.

Everyone always gives me credit at 565 feet at Griffith stadium......but near a Baltimore ship channel...some one hit one that landed on a passing ship on the way to England.....that was actually the longest one ever hit.....unless you count the one that Eugene Upshaw(yes the football player)hit off me in the Little League playoffs....in 1958.....his ball actually is still in orbit.....he actually beat the Russian's claim to the first orbiting sattelite(Sputnik).....I bet it is still in orbit after nearly 50 years.....it was climbing as it left Laredo and never saw it come down!!!

Mickey Mantle, Bo Jackson, Reggie Jackson, Babe Ruth, and Lou Gehrig all probably hit 570 plus foot home runs but they can never measure accurately. Mantle hit one that went over 600 feet

Reggie Jackson 1971(?) All Star game... he hit it on the third deck in Tiger Stadium. That's the longest I've ever heard of.
