Hi,
sentencing in many cases, both in the USA and the UK. for example, is diluted by the liberal notion of 'prisoners' rights'.
I believe that in cases like this, where the guilty are proven guilty, they should receive a different kind of custodial sentence...Life.
In this instance life should mean life, but more...they should have no recreational facilities, no reading material, no television, no contact with other people...in short their life should be thoroughly and utterly miserable.
As these people would have no future release date there is no point in trying to 'educate' them for a life outside prison...they don't deserve one and should spend the rest of their lives without rights, benefits or enjoyment. (perhaps welded into a cell and left there until they died) Food should be absolutely basic and only water given each day. They should be denied medical help should they fall ill.
Perhaps sentences like this would deter criminals from chancing a life sentence and make the world a safer place...perhaps?
Sorry to sound so bitter, my good friend in the 1960's was raped and killed by a criminal who was sentenced to 'life', but who was released in 1981 and committed another rape and murder the same year he was released. He is now, once again, serving 'life' (he is eligible for parole again this year)
Another family mourning the loss of a child, another set of prison do-gooders maintaining that this man should be allowed another chance. Well not in my book!
He is now 'living' in an open prison where he has daily recreational activities, good food and an education. For what? He has done it twice already, the population will not be safe if (when?) he is released again.

No, I don't think that is enough.
In many of the states here they would be eligible for parole after serving one-third of their sentence. So they could be out in a little more than seven years.
But for some reason judges are soft on crime against children. Child molesters often get off with probation. Those who get jail time usually serve a few months. But if the same person raped an adult, they would get years rather than months.
Anyone who abuses or attacks a child deserves to be put away for a long time. But a lot of the judges think that therapy rather than jail time does more good and they won't get the therapy they need while in jail. If they stay in jail forever, they won't need therapy because they will never be able to get their hands on another innocent child!
Crimes against children has the highest repeat-offender rate of any type of crime. Therapy is not effective on these offenders.
If someone is a potential threat to society, they should receive the maximum jail time in order to protect the innocent. Society should be given the benefit of the doubt; not the criminal.
How do these judges get their positions? In the U.S., some are elected. But some State Court judges are appointed by the Governor. And Federal Court judges are appointed by the President. So, if you want judges who will be tough on crime, be careful who you vote for and take time to do a little homework before you go to the ballot box next time. I think the selection of judges is probably more important than a lot of the social issues people use when they decide who they will vote for. Someone told me once that they vote for the person who "looks Presidential", whatever that means. I think it may mean that they vote for the person who has the best presence and appearance on TV.

I agree that people who clearly have no idea to decently treat other people, let alone children, should be severaly punished. If you are not able to decently treat a child - your OWN child - well, what kind of person are you? I rationally think that everyone should deserve a second chance, but that doesnt mean they dont deserve punishment. ON the contrary! You only deserve a second chance when you have proven yourself, and showed that you will not abuse it and fall back into what ever you were in to.
By punishment, I do not mean the death penalty by the way, because killing the perpetrator you do not solve a thing, as it does not undo the harm caused. Killing a perpretrator only has a short term gratification, but in the long the damage remains.

Yes I really do agree with you --- these Bastards should stay in Jail until they Die , when you dwell on the Terror and Hell that Innocent -- Harmless , Disabled little Girl was Subjected to by these Filthy Inhuman Monsters It is Deeply Upsetting and Depressing that such Evil Exists ----- Additionally I have the Strongest Feelings against these so called "Child Protection Agencies"--"A Curse on Them"--- who Time , Time, and Time, again let these Poor Defenceless Children suffer at the Hands of Monsters , then sit and face the T V and Media Interviewers with their Rotten , Bland , Shameless Excuses -- These People should also be Bought to Book and Punished for their Derilection of Duty and Total Failure in their Duty and Responsibility to Protect these Poor Vulnerable Children

No I do not not agree to your knee-jerk reactionary rantings.
The main problem is that any idiot is allowed to breed and the government will not only support them, but actively encourages such spawning.
If people were left to fend for themselves a bit more, the deranged, lazy and stupid would die out and we would not have a global population crisis, crippled welfare system or overcrowded prisons. We would have sufficient police numbers to properly deter and detect bank robbers etc. and plenty of room to imprison them.
Natural selection - you can't improve on nature... If people want to abuse their kids, just let them die - that way the abused kids won't grow up into deranged adults who abuse their kids and so on...

Being the mum of a 4 year old girl myself, this news story made me actually cry in the kitchen when I heard it on the radio. I can't believe such people are allowed to ever walk the same streets as us again. I hugged my little girl and told her how much I love her. I only hope they get the hell they deserve in prison by the other inmates.

These people should have the same thing done to them as what they had done to their child, also those useless Social workers should be sacked and jailed for allowing this child to go back to her parents. This poor child was forced to eat her own feces, had boiling water poured over her and her hair pulled out.

As a punishment the Bull should get castrated and the female Bit** should get a hysterectomy. They should both be put in prison for the rest of their worthless lives.
