Plain old fashioned mothballs work every time guaranteed!

Use a wrist rocket to shoot them under your house and spread them in your yard. Only place a few in the house as the fumes are toxic (less than 4 or 5 per room and the same for closets) but I'd use a box or more outside and around the yard. Mothballs also keep rodents, insects, arachnids, and other pests away. Also try to close up the areas under your house as best as possible after spreading the mothballs.

Remember to wear gloves when spreading the balls and wash your hands very well after wards! Don't want you to get sick! :D

I don't know if this works, but an old cowboy trick was to circle the house with rope. It was said that the snake wouldn't cross the rope.

Actually, as long as the snake isn't poisonous, they are very good for your garden and eat rats and mice. Maybe the best way to get rid of snakes is to make sure you get rid of the small rodents they eat. They won't stick around where there's no food.

I donno about shoosnake, but most of the time it works if you can close the holes in the garden that can be snake-holes or ant-holes.
There is a shrub called lantana (an Indianized name i guess) that repells snakes (i think the name is right)
Clearing unwanted stuff around and unwanted plants will also help
