Good: wine (champagne, burgundy, bordeaux, sauternes, sancerre, loire, côtes du rhône), food (seafood, foie gras, boeuf bourguignon, ratatouille, bouillabaisse, choucroute, snails, frogs' legs, onion soup, bread, cheese, herbs), fast trains (TGV), music (Debussy, partly Chopin, Faure, Brel, Gainsbourg, Aznavour, Claude François), accordeon, berets, beautiful places (Paris, the French Riviera, Brittany, the Midi, Normandy), football (except when they get beaten...), boules, Le Tour de France, philosophy (Descartes, Rousseau, Voltaire, Sartre), the Marseillaise, wars, Valmy, Napoleon, Verdun, châteaux (Versailles, Vaux-le-Vicomte, Chambord, Chenonceau, Fontainebleau, Blois), chocolates, fashion (Dior, Lanvin, YSL, Chanel), perfumes (Chanel), luxury goods (Chanel, Vuitton, Hermes, Céline), luggage (Delsey), airplanes (EADS-Airbus, Dassault), literature, poetry and theatre (Molière, Zola, Hugo)

Bad: strikes, demonstrations, "grèves", some riots, complaining, strikes, the administration, strikes, Saturday night TV, strikes, and, oh yes, more strikes.

Champagne, good cheeses, great sausages, crusty breads, wines, onions, garlic, good foods, good restaurants, undercooked meats (I like undercooked meats).

Vegetarian salads with that contain ham (found that while I stayed in Paris for a while. The vegetarian lady I was with was disgusted, but it was one of the best salads I'd ever had).

Spanish and Greek Taxi Drivers who will drive at 150 kilometres an hour through the centre of Paris after midnight. Good Friends, nice neighbours, bottled water, dog poop on the ground, those funny motorcycles that go around with a big hose that sucks up the dog poop.

Great Food, (did I mention that already? if so it needs mentioning again), Winter festivals that include great food shops, brilliant blue cheeses, great underground system, well organised transport (which fails when so many people go on holiday every year). Good bars, good shops, fresh produce.

Good coffee.

is that enough?
