I'm wondering if there is a prejudice or judgement before you even meet someone and how a strange or unusual name might hinder (or help) someone for life.

Not long ago there was a study done to test to see if an unusual name created any disadvantage. It turns out it does. I, personally, don't judge people; but based on that study they showed on television apparently a lot of people do.

I tend to think, though, there's a point where a person should be able to overcome the disadvantages of a certain type of name and become successful in spite of any prejudice at the resume-handing-in level in some places. I can't say I'm positive this is the case, though.

There are all kinds of people that have had to fight tooth and nail to be successful. ANYTHING can and will be used against you.

It is up to you to decide on whether the name will hinder or help you to be succesfull. Try changing it and giving in? A black person can't just as easily change their color, but they have been successful despite that fact.

Right here in the US, people are naming their children stranger and stranger names every day. Everyone wants their child to be unique. I don't think that a person's name (which they did not name themselves, anyway) should have anything to do with their resume or success.

Yes (this is not about specific people), but Dr Tooth would be a good dentist, Dr Payne would not be a good dentist or doctor . Dr Bacon would not be a good obesity doctor. Dr Cramwell would not be a good proctologist....oops ran out of names..
