Indians claim to be most forgiving and hospitable and yet there is wide spread distrust and discrimination when in comes to buying real estate... non-veg especially are muslims are barred from buying prime areas. What has education and liberalisation thought us all to be unjust and shameless and not follow the great tradition of secularism.
The question I want to pose : How can we change this legally, morally and socially

Imagine if you will living next to a chain smoker. To a vegetarian whether Hindu, Seventh Day Adventist, Christian Scientist or just a health nut, the smell of flesh cooking is equally vile. Furthermore, living next to someone who eats the flesh of cruelly raised and brutally slaughtered creatures of God, is like having Hannibal live next to them. It's not discrimination to exclude people from your neighborhood with vile practices unless they are willing to change those habits. If you want to be with non-smokers, you have to refrain from smoking. If you want to live in a nudist colony you have to take off your clothes. If you want to live among vegetarians, stop eating meat .

Real estate laws forbid discrimination against anyone on basis of religion, race or ethnis background, gender, etc... specific items. However, a community, as long as it is privately managed, can legally have association covenants that restrict certain activities.

If a particular practice is due primarily for religious purposes, it could be considered as religious discrimination.

It is actually illegal to discriminate according to the National Association of Realtor. If you are being discriminated against, I suggest contacting your local association.

God loves Indians, Hindus, Muslims enough to send his son Jesus to die on the cross for them. Since my God loves them so much - so do I. Find a REAL Christian Realtor to help.
