I really need to know this. It's causing me great frustration and loss of time. Please help.

When you say thumbnail, I'm assuming you're trying to blow up an extremely small raster image. Retaining clarity on any size raster image is impossible. You are essentially just making every pixel bigger(not increasing the number of pixels).

The only type of image that can be blown up without a drop in image quality is the vector image. Paths are stored mathematically and you make the path bigger.

You can't - because the thumbnail has been reduced so the pixel size will be a lot larger when you try and make the thumbnail bigger.

Usually what you do is like the thumbnail image to a larger original version of the thumbnail.
