Generally it's older men (and women) looking BACK on their lives with a large amount of nostalgia and understanding... to have a young man looking *forward* is unusual and refreshing. Youth, generally, is pretty egocentric. To look at someone older and different from yourself and see the similarities is, well, unusual. That's why the song is so special.
