That one is pretty simple. And actually the Naval Academy had a great team while David Robinson was attending. THe reason is the number of players needed to have a competitive team. With 2 really good players, you can be competitive many nights in college or even pro basketball. Football requires many more competent people and these days offensive lineman that would not meet the weight requirements for the service academies

well air force is in a conference and army football sucks but navy football is pretty good

all the teams from the military suffer because few elite athletes want to commit to six years and possibly get killed when they can go to a regular college a year or two and become millionaires.
