Is there a way to compile all the contents of subfolders into one main folder, without having to manually drag them one at a time into a new folder?

Yep just open the main folder and open the Search tools (or press F3) then type *.* and it will show every file in the main folder, then Select them all and copy them. Then return to your main folder (a click on the Back button should do) and paste it all in there. Once pasted the subfolders will be empty and they can be deleted.

P.D: This is for Windows XP.
