MIAMI HEAT and DALLAS MAVERICKS or
DETROIT PISTONS and DALLAS MAVERICKS

DALLAS MAVERICKS will win against the 2 other powerful teams in the WEST: Tim Duncan's SAN ANTONIO SPURS and Steve Nash's PHOENIX SUNS.

I think it is pretty likely Dallas will make the finals again this year, considering they're better than last year's finals team. Josh Howard has stepped up his game, while Dirk has remained consistent, and the addition of new role players makes the team even stronger. Also, the resurgence of Dampier helps some too, as he offensively makes a bigger impact then Diop. The Suns' outcome will be determined based on the physical condition of Nash, and I don't think he can make it through the physical playoffs in pristine condition. San Antonio, as always, has a shot but I see a repeat of last year. Utah and the Lakers are the dark horses of the West, but neither are likely to win the Semis (although a Lakers v. Mavericks series might be alot closer then you'd think.)

From the East, watching the way Detroit just demolished the Lakers, I'd say they're the team to beat. Lebron James is good, but he couldn't take out Miami, Chicago, or Detroit by himself. Miami and Detroit probably are the best choices to win the East, as Chicago doesn't have enough consistent firepower and unless Gilbert averages 40+, they're the most consistent teams in the East. Orlando has a shot of being a dark horse if they're healthy, as they have a solid bench and a team of vets organized around a young, promising center.

Right now Dallas & Phoenix are playing the best and would easily beat Detroit or any other team. Dallas have beaten Phoenix both times they played so I would give it to them.

But a lot depends on which players are healthy and who lifts their game in the playoffs.

Last season Tim Duncan only scored 18.6 points per game in the regular season but lifted that to 25.8 in the playoffs.

Likewise if Shaq and Wade are healthy in the playoffs Miami will be hard to beat. They could still finish with the best record in the East.

at this point of the season, it seems like the mavs are steam-rolling to 62 wins and the number 1 seed in the west. they are almost a cinch to make the west finals. the suns running game will not work against the spurs in a seven game series. hence, spurs vs mavs. I would pick the mavs here.

over at the east, its anyones guess. i see the pistons and the heat in the finals unless they meet in the first round. the bulls could be the dark horse here. but in the end, i would put my money on the heat to repeat as east champs.

Im making an early prediction that it will be Phoenix vs Detroit. They both have loaded squads, Webber a nice extra weapon for the Pistons. My sleeper in each division is the Wizards in the east and Lakers in the west. With Kobe, anythings possible. I'll say 4-2 Phoenix over Detroit. That's if everyone is healthy.

Phoenix vs Detroit

I think phoenix will finally make it and Detroit will beat miami in the east

Unless Houston makes a run they have the talent and the defense

Oh yeah but lest not forget 6 of the last 7 titles have been won by either duncan or shaq

Maybe shaq and duncan will meet in finals Miami vs San Antonio

detroit or the heat in the east; dallas got valuable playoff experience last year and should return...san antonio looks a step off, the suns will have to go on the road and the lakers look to be a year or two away from making any noise

Barring any injuries from its key players, The Detroit Pistons will face the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA finals. Then avery johnson will "flip" out saunders and win his first NBA title as coach of the Dallas Mavericks.

pistons will definitely run down the east... they have the lock and throw defense plus add C-Webb's versatility... its a matter of team chemistry

pistons beats cavs in 6 games

im torn between mavs and suns up west... but i will go for mavs given thier depth and experience... as i can see it mavs are not even putting everything on the table they are pacing... suns may run out of gas come may...

mavs beat spurs in 7 games 2OT

defense wins championships... i'll go for pistons though mavs are deep pistons are tough..

i say pistons in 7 games
