They are hoping you deposit the check in your bank account and then send them their fees before the check clears the bank. You will find their check is not good. Your bank will hold you responsible for it. You will lose the money you sent them. It is a scam.
Do a search in Yahoo Answers. There were a few people who fell victim to the scam a month ago. They were asking about options to recover their money.
Deposit the check. Do not send money, even if there is a deadline. You will see their check is worthless.

It's a SCAM, and a fake cash giveaway is just one of the many gimmicks the spammers use to get you to open their emails and to get you to give them your personal information... or your money. By opening a spam mail, you could be unleashing a virus on your computer or alerting the spammers that your email address is an active one. This means you could receive a flood of spam mail (yes, even more than you get now... a LOT more) in the future. Never NEVER open spam mails.

Honey, it's a hoax--Publishers Clearing House is not out of Canada. DO NOT cash the check as they can somehow get your personal information thru that canceled check. If in doubt, ask your bank about the legality of the check and contact your local fraud alert.

if you win a prize and they ask for more money, then you've already been scammed. Turn them in to the police, the state dept. PCH doesn't work out of Canada...it's American. You might want to check your acct to make sure the money is really there and they didn't clean it out...

Anyone who says you've won something, & then requests any money, or, the access information to your bank account, is a FRAUD. Period.

I agree with Kathy A
Do NOT pay a fee. Check your account, or, better yet, open a new one, transfer all your money into it... close the old one. Protect your identity.

Don't pay anything and don't spend any of that money just yet. It's a scam and the money likely will come back out of your account.
