I was pretty good at it, back in the day. If you had the perfect grassy hillside without a lot of sticks and debris, you could avoid the bruises.
I think I once did this in adulthood on a field trip with my 1st grader too! The kids were amused to see an adult rolling down the hill, and I must say, it brought back memories. But I don't roll as well as I used to...

Rolling down a grassy hill on a sunny day. I've got an issue with getting electrocuted.

You just brought back alot of happy childhood memories. When I was young, me and my cousins would go to the park and slide down the grassy muddy hills on card board boxes. We loved it, we'd spend most of our week ends at the park. We use to compare our bruises, it was all good fun though. Oh the good old days!
As for my son, he prefers to play on his play station, rather than go to the park, and will only look at a card board box if it comes via the mail. I think I might take him to the park tomorrow.

We had a park with a huge steep hill and we would roll and sled down it. Once I thought it'd be cool to ride my bike down it, and I lost control, flew over bumps and flipped. I still have a scar on my leg, and I even walk down hills gently now.

We used to play King of the Mountain.
The King defended the mountain by throwing attackers off. If you threw him off, you became the new King. A rough game, but fun.
Haven't thought about that in years.
