I currently use T-Mobile. I've never had any problems with the, and have had them as my carrier for over 3 years. My plan is for 1000mins and 1000messages (any kind) for 60 a month. The messages bundle for 1000 is 9.99. For unlimited, I believe it is $18. There is a 300 minute pool for 29 and a 600 for 39.

Hope this helps narrow your choices some ways. Balancing what you are asking for with the price limit you have set is tough to do. Whatever you do, don't go for a prepaid phone. In the long run, you will end up paying much much more.

Edit: The plan I outlined above also offers free nights past 9pm and free weekends as well.

Right now I have Unicel and i get unlimited calls for $40 a month, but unicel is a small wireless company. I work for Unicel and am a wireless consultant. I would recommend Cingular, they have a plan that is 39.99/month with 450 minutes and 5000 night and weekend minutes, plus free mobile to mobile. if you are willing to spend an extra ten dollars a month you will get 900 minutes , unlimited nights and weekends and free mobile to mobile. Another thing that is great about cingular is that the minutes you don't use roll over to the next month which can be very helpful. Cingular also uses the GSM system which 80% of the world uses, Cingular is also number one when it comes to coverage in the united states. Cingular is coupled with AT&T so you can go into either place and get the same deals. Cingular is so cool in many other ways as well. You can buy any GSM phone that is unlocked and is Quad band, pop your SIM card into it and your phone number and your phone book will be in that phone. I could go on and on about it, but i am sure you don't care, if you do have anymore questions you can send me a message and i will be more than happy to help you or explain anything you are unsure of.... Good Luck!!!

good luck for $45 a month with unlimited texting. i go through cingular now because they work best in my current location but my bill is $39 a month plus taxes and other charges which comes to $46 a month, that is for 450 daytime minutes and i believe it is limited to 1 or 2 thousand night and weekend minutes. also all calls are free to other cingular customers all the time but it costs 10 cents for each text message. but after a few months of service they did offer me unlimited texting for $10 a month. so that would still bring youre bill up to $56 a month. before that i was with verizon and i believe my plan was also $39 a month plus taxes for 400 minutes a month and unlimited nights and weekends. but instead of just unlimited text messages for the extra $10 a month i had unlimited internet access through my phone also. but that was also around $56 a month. its only $11 a month over youre budget but that is about the best i can think of with the need to have unlimited texting. you also might want to compare such things as roaming charges if you travel much. but what is even more important is to ask around which cellular provider works best in youre area. my verizon phone didnt work here after i moved out of state, being new here and knowing no one i just stopped at the first place in town for a new cell phone contract, i went with sprint and it was horrible, the phone would have me as roaming even when i was at home. i believe you can check rates for almost any cellular provider on the internet. also another important factor to consider is if they will just give you a phone for free or will they want you to buy a phone.

I have 3000 anytime minutes for $49.99 from T-Mobile. When I got my phone I did a search for best cell phone rates. That plan had the most minutes for the least amount of money. I'm just not sure tmobile still offers this plan.

Check out this website. http://www.younevercall.com/
I purchased my razor from them and received a $250 rebate making the phone free. You can use this site if you are a new t-mobile customer or any other provider. It's totally worth it. Good luck!

both and each and each unmarried month when I get my residing house telephone invoice, I ask myself why. i imagine 3 people have the large style. i imagine i have made and received (total of both jointly, ideas you) 4 calls on it contained in the perfect 6 months. yet nonetheless...I save it. Why? i don't understand...should be some deep seated lack of self assurance, lol, some as yet undiagnosed, unnatural emotional attachment to landline phones? Yeah...phonaphobic separation disease or something...hmmm...ask your self if it ought to qualify me as heavily disturbed adequate to ditch gainful employment and convey jointly a verify or something? Lol...nah, probably not, so i wager i will purely save paying a really ineffective invoice each month till???

I'll try to help you out since you're a first-time cell phone buyer. I'll assume you know nothing, so don't be offended if I tell you something you already know, mmk? Cool.

First off, there's the credit check. If you don't have a lot of credit built up, there's a good chance that you'll have to pay what's called a DEPOSIT. This is the company's way of ensuring that they'll get their money's worth out of you if you just stop paying bills. If you pay your bills on time (At least w/ sprint) you get that deposit back after 1 year's time. Generally, its around $150-500. It seemed to me that most of the time Sprint would be less than cingular, but check out your options.

Then you need to decide on a PLAN.

Let's see what Cingular has to offer under individual plans:

450 minutes nationwide for 39.99
Anytime Minutes 450
Night & Weekend minutes (AFTER 9PM)5000
Mobile to Mobile minutes Unlimited
Long Distance $0.00
Roaming Charges $0.00
Additional minutes $.45/minute
One-time activation fee $36.00
Contract length 2 years
Text Messaging: 4.99 for 200 messages (you said unlimited, but that's going over the $45 mark w/ cingular)

Now on to Sprint:

$39.99 for 450 Minutes
# Nights start at 7pm
# Unlimited Nights and Weekends
# No Roaming Charges
# Unlimited Nationwide Long Distance
# Unlimited Mobile to Mobile
Additional Anytime Minutes $0.45
( It's difficult to find their text messaging rates, but its probably the same as Cingular's - just make sure you find out if you decide to go with sprint.

Now that's only Sprint and Cingular - there's also Verizon, T-mobile, AT&T (now w/ cingular), and a lot of other ones to choose from. Sprint and Cingular are pretty well known for their coverage network. Meaning, they have the two best cell phone networks in the U.S, which equates to less dropped calls and probably less static.

Another thing to think about is your friends. Most major cell phone providers offer what's called "Mobile-to-Mobile" Meaning you can talk to whoever is on the other line for free if they have the same phone provider as you. Who do you talk to? One thing a lot of people forget to think about when purchasing a cell phone is that they're friends might be on a different network. If say for example you have 9 friends that are with cingular, and 2 friends that are with sprint, then it would make more sense to go with cingular.

Depending on where you live there might be a less expensive "Area-Specific" (I'm not sure if there is an actual term for it or not, so I'm using my own terminology) cellular phone company that offers discount plans because they only cover a certain area.

For example, I live in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area, and one of our companies that is Area-Specific is Metro PCS. It will cover Dallas and Fort Worth. If you go out of these areas, they will charge you more - but in the case of Metro PCS, you have unlimted TALK TIME and unlimited text messaging.

Of course, if you plan to leave the Area-Specific boundaries, then you'll want to go with a nation-wide or region-wide company - as they WILL charge you extra for leaving the area. In the case of Metro-PCS, if you go to New York, NY - you'll be charged an arm and a leg.

And yet ANOTHER option is to go PRE-PAID. Pre-paid phone's really aren't that bad if you're only talking about 200 minutes/month. But since you said 400+ I wouldn't recommend getting a pre-paid phone. But cingular's GOPHONE's are the best choice ( they work on the cingular network) if this is your last option.

And last, but not least - what kind of phone do you want? And how much are you willing to dish out?

When looking around for phones, look for PROMOTIONS (sales...they have them all the time on phones). You can EASILY get a free phone nowadays with a camera, speakerphone, SMS, etc. If I had to buy a new phone with Cingular right now, I'd go with the C417 (red). Sturdy phone, slim design, and a decent camera. Oh, and if you really want a lot of information on phones in particular, go to www.phonescoop.com

So, after all of this - you need to keep in mind that your first bill (regardless of what which company you go with) will be higher than the rest of your bills. You're going to have to pay an activation fee, and don't forget about TAXES.

Depending on how old you are and who you know, you could get on a friend's plan or a family relative's ( Your parents, even better idea...really..my parents are still paying for mine..lol) plan for around 9.99/ a month with either sprint or cingular if they have that option available. DEFINATELY a money saver there, but you won't have the individual freedom of paying your own bill.

Sorry if I overwhelmed you with information. Do your homework. Find out who has the best deal, and what's the best deal for YOU. Do NOT be pressured into buying a plan/phone - it should be a pleasurable experience when buying a phone. Good luck and don't go over those minutes!

Verizon Wireless America's Choice 450
No Roaming Charges on the Verizon Wireless Network
Enjoy domestic calls without roaming charges on the America's Choice calling coverage area. However, international and off-network roaming rates will apply.
Unlimited IN Calling
You can now call any Verizon Wireless customer anytime, anywhere, absolutely free, without using any of your allowance minutes, when you call from the Local IN Calling Coverage Area. PLUS, receive Unlimited Night and Weekend home airtime minutes.

Local IN Calling minutes apply to calls made between Verizon Wireless customers with Verizon Wireless numbers activated within the same Local IN Calling Airtime Rate and Coverage Area. All parties must be within the designated Local IN Calling Airtime Rate and Coverage Area and on the Verizon Wireless network at the time the call originates. Local IN Calling requires that Caller ID be present on each line. If Caller ID is not present, Local IN Calling will apply to outgoing calls only. Local IN Calling Minutes do not apply to calls received when Caller ID is not present. Local IN Calling is not available to customers whose wireless exchange restricts the delivery of Caller ID or with fixed wireless devices with usage substantially from a single cell site. Data usage will not be rated IN Calling calling. Long distance may apply.

Unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes
Night hours are 9:01 PM - 5:59 AM, Monday - Friday. Weekend hours are 12:00 AM, Saturday - 11:59 PM, Sunday. Peak hours are all other times except certain holidays.

Nationwide Long Distance Included
Nationwide long distance is included in your plan.

Voice Mail
With Voice Mail, you have a 24-hour answering service for your wireless phone. Callers can leave messages that you can then retrieve using your wireless phone or any touch-tone phone, anytime. The service automatically alerts you when a message has been left on your Voice Mail (while using the Verizon Wireless network).

Caller ID
Caller ID lets you know who's calling before you answer your wireless phone, so you can decide whether or not to take the call. Caller ID displays the number of the person calling (for all unblocked numbers). It may also display the name of the person if you've stored it in your phone's memory. Pressing one button can usually return calls. See your phone owner's manual for more information on storing numbers.
Call Waiting
Don't want to miss a single call? This handy feature alerts you of an incoming call when you're already on the phone. After you hear the tone, you can put the first call on hold and answer the second, then alternate between callers. Airtime charges will be incurred for both calls until you end one.

Call Forwarding
When you know you'll be unavailable on your wireless phone, you can have calls automatically forwarded to another phone number, including your home, office or pager. Airtime charges apply for the duration of the forwarded call.
3-Way Calling
3-Way Calling

With this feature, you can speak with two other people at the same time. So you can create a conference call by adding another party to an existing conversation. As with Call Waiting, you'll be charged airtime for two calls until you end one.

411 Connect
411 ConnectSM offers convenient features to make your life easier. During a single call you may request up to three listings from the menu of services offered under the 411 Connectsm menu. If additional requests are needed, you will need to dial 411 again, and another representative will be able to address your request. Call completion is available for one of the requested numbers during a 411 Connectsm call. You will be charged for the call completion as if you had disconnected from 411 Connectsm and dialed the number directly.
No Answer/Busy Transfer
This is a more specific forwarding option. You can have incoming calls answered by another phone whenever your wireless phone is busy or remains unanswered for three or four rings.

Calls to ’toll-free’ numbers are toll-free; you will be billed airtime. Billing for airtime and related charges may sometimes be delayed. Delayed airtime will be applied against the included airtime for the month when you actually made or received the call, even though such charges may show up on a later bill. This may result in charges higher than you’d expect in the later month. Family SharePlan Minimum of two lines required. Maximum of five lines. Only one line is the primary line. All lines must be activated on the same billing account and in the same market. National IN Calling You can talk with any of our customers anytime from within the America’s Choice and North America’s Choice (in the United States and Puerto Rico) Rate and Coverage Area. National IN Calling does not apply in those areas of Louisiana and Mississippi where your phone’s roaming indicator flashes. Internet Access Mobile Office Kits, PC Cards, PDAs or other wireless modem devices may not be used for Internet access without a subscription to select VZEmail or VZAccess plans.
