Do you play well even though you taught yourself? Did you have to learn all that crap that piano teachers teach you, but you rarely use? I'm teaching myself to play piano, but i feel like i might be missing important info that teachers could give. Please help and share your experiences with me. I'm 13 y.o.

I am also 13 years old. I taught myself to play piano a few years ago. It really helps if you play by ear too. If you don't buy a electric keyboard with keys that light up when you play. THey have them at Best Buy. THey have songs on them that it can teach you. THen you'll get a better sense of which finger to use when and where and why! Good luck!

I am almost 41 years old. We had a piano growing up but I just messed around on it. Recently I got a piano and am teaching myself and my daughter how to play. Of course, I have an extensive musical background from playing coronet all throughout school. This site should help you a lot. I enjoy it very much. Good luck, and don't give up. Believe in yourself even if no one else does!!

I used "emedia piano."

I use the product myself. It's awesome. You load it on to your computer and get a inexpensive keyboard that you attach to your PC... it will teach you as you go and you will learn how to read music.
