Hauntingly brilliant.

Listen man... if you're looking for epic, do NOT make up your mind until you've listened to No Quarter by Led Zepplin (its like closing your eyes and walking to Mordor) and Echoes by Pink Floyd. Echoes includes a seven minute rain storm in the middle of the song (which is 27 minutes long or so) so I don't reccommend getting into it unless you have some time to spare (don't worry, the return to chorus is worth the wait). These songs can def. change your life if your open to them.......

Best of luck on your quest!

I'd have to say alot of the stuff John Williams has composed for movies especially for the Star Wars Saga, you Darth Varder March, Star Wars and Princess Leila's Song etc.

Not too sure what you mean by "epic", but if my interpretation is correct, I'd say "Stairway To Heaven", by Led Zepplin.

Edmund Fitzgerald. It's almost creepy if you live near the Great Lakes.

"Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd, but more recently: "Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore" by The Mars Volta.
