If you can, call the office and ask for any special instructions beforehand.

That being said, most abdominal ultrasounds do require that you have a full bladder (in later stages of pregnancy this isn't true, however). Your safest bet is to arrive with a full bladder: emptying a full bladder, if required, is easy....filling up an empty one takes a bit of time and would potentially hold up your appointment.

Showing up with a full bladder does NOT require that you show up uncomfortable and ready to burst, especially since you'll likely find yourself waiting for a bit. Drink some beforehand, and bring a bottle of water with you to keep sipping while you wait, but don't go crazy.

Depends on the ultasound exam

If it's an ultrasound for a pregnancy then yes 8 glasses of water. Your bladder has to be and feel like you are bursting

If it's an ultrasound for the liver, then no water at all

JUST HAD ONE DONE

I never had to worry about that, well for pregnancy, I have two boys and about 21 ultra sounds each time I was pregnant and they never told me anything, I drank when I was thirsty but every doctors visit you have to give a urine sample if your pregnant but make sure you dont go to the bathroom before going so you can go there just in case!
