I tried fixing it through desktop but I'm not even sure what I did. Can anyone help me. I am running Windows 98.

Under General in my settings I do not see DPI, or anything like that to choose

On your desktop right click your mouse, then click properties, a display properties icon will come out. Choose settings, Choose advance. Under the Genaral, choose DPI settings to normal size then press OK. Your big icons will be in normal size again.
