Ordered a book on ebay and paid for it. the Seller shipped it on Jan. 23rd and according to USPS tracking, it was delivered on Jan. 25th. However, we havent seen it.
There was no missed delivery slip on the door, and my sister was home at that time and date, so she wouldve heard the postman knock.
Ive told the seller that we never recieved it, but Im concerned that she will think we are trying to scam her.
Will the post office provide me details such as if the postman left it on the porch or with a neighbor? Or did I just lose 18 dollars forever?

No, you continue to find out what happened to your package, If they say they delivered it, they driver should have a record of who he received the package or if it was left at your doorstep, neither of which is your fault and UPS is responsible for it's safe delivery or the replacement. But you'll have to keep on them, or just wait until you get tired of inquiring, start your complaint with a manager and be sure to keep a record of who you talk too. Good Luck...Personal Experience outcome ...Excellent

You should contact your local post office immediately and talk to the supervisor and the Letter Carrier to see if they have any idea what happened. Don't be accusatory. The Carrier may have left the book in what he/she thought was a safe location only to have it stolen. Delivery confirmation parcels don't have to be signed for so the Letter Carrier may have left it behind a screen door, etc not knowing they were being watched by a passing criminal. Good luck. Email me if the Postal jargon gets to be too much for you.

Good luck it's been my experience that even if it was stolen if there isn't insurance on it then the post office won't do anything.
