I know that most Puerto Ricans don't want to become a state for a lot of reasons, but why don't they want to be an independent nation? In all the referendums independence gets less than 5% of the vote

They get money hunny! Plus they don't have to sacrifice their culture for it.

Its not about money from the federal government, thats just stupid. Its about tourism, which the economy runs on attracks alot of Americans because they don't need a passport to come in. Also the tax breaks that American companies get by doing business there is amazing, they keep all the advantages of being and "American" based company but don't have to pay taxes.
