I too am a fan of the Saw franchise along with the Freddy and Jason series. I prefer Halloween over those two though. I think the best is Exorcist. And Blair Witch is great for it's unlike any other scary movie. I also thought Scream was pretty good.
Psycho, Copycat, and Seven are the best thrillers.

yes scary movies are awesome. "dead silence" from the writers/directors of saw looks great. I like saw, excorcist, an american haunting, red dragon, and hostel in its own way.
