Do I need software for my newly bought PSP?

Just got a PSP, and I lost the booklet. Silly me. Anyway, do I need to buy seperate software to download audio CDs,pictures,ect or does it work automatically. I plugged it into my computer and nothing happend except that it reconized the PSP.Help?

You just need a memory stick pro duo. The giga-pack and value pack include one.

You should be able to put pictures on it right away, but music needs to be in MP3 format which isn't stright off the cd.
