Mark, you are kidding, right ?

Three quarters of all programs are NOT worth watching.

Surely you Ausssies have learned to be discriminating, so that by trial and error you have found a half a dozen excellent, reliable, informative and entertaining programs. The rest you either DELETE from your remote control or just ignore.

You mention Bill O'Reilly. This man was created and appeals to a group of loyal, right-wing zealots who think he is great. His program resembles Goebles, back in Germany. e.g government propaganda, right or wrong. O'Reilly even thinks they are winning the Iraq people over to democracy, while 80 of the US population do NOT agree.

O'Reilly's program touts continuation of the war regardless of errors, calls anyone else a traitor and generally is so obnoxious that only the kick-ass, shoot-em-up, if- you- aren't- with- us- then- your'e- the- enemy types watch and enjoy him.

Linkletter appeals to a certain class of younger viwers who somehow think he is funny. I've listened to him off and on for 15 years and have yet to hear him say anything humorous so make your own opinion. He just signed on for another 5 years.

Lots of sit-coms are written expressly for vertsin segments of the population, just as some aussie, I suppose really enjoy break dancers and rap music. It is said that folks enjoy programs in which the characters identify with themselves.

There are some really great programs on American TV. The Discovery Channel, the History Channel, A&E, the Food channel, the Gold Channel, TB (Ted Turners) wonderful channel that has the best movies available, night after night.

Just as you would pick and choose a book to read if you went into a public library in Australia, so you must be equally choosy about American TV. That's what America great...there is SOMETHING for EVERYONE.

YES, well there is some good stuff coming out but i am soo god damn sick of the cop shows, like CSI, NCIS, Law and Order and all the other shows about how to catch a murderer. I would rather watch all of those home improvement shows that used to be on instead of the cop shows.

You could make it your life's work of getting american programs banned from our tvs.
