they have a great chance as the Stanley cup is the hardest championship to win in any other Professional sport in the world. to be honest with you i don't think they could win the cup this year not trying to be an a-ss, but if you look at allot of teams in the past that are young teams it took them several years to grow as a team and you win some and you lose some as a team and that only makes the team stronger. look at the Oilers of the early 80's they were setting records personal records and team records but it took them 5 years to win a Stanley Cup. but in the NHL playoffs anything can happen so I'm not saying no they can't I'm just saying look at your team and watch them grow as one, and they will dominate in the near future guaranteed.

and I'm not even a Pens fan.

Nips I appreciate your evaluations and quite some the time you're appropriate. although I would desire to take project this reaction to penguin boy's question. who're you to declare the pens have not confronted anyone. Who has detroit confronted? A dallas team that hasn't shown up, a colorado team riddled with injuries oh and nashville who has fairly bought their team to philly. Detroit has been stunning yet do no longer say the pens have not performed anyone. They beat a banged up ottawa yet via fact then have performed a rangers team that supposedly in accordance to the media would desire to have crushed the pens and that they are destroying the flyers. As I reported earlier it is going to likely be an prolonged sequence that the pens have a shot against the pink wings. and that i'm in basic terms asserting this to the detroit followers who think of they are going to win in a sweep or in 5, if the Pens win the Cup i might elect to work out humble pie eaten via you. For people who say Detroit in 6 or 7 this would not notice to you. If although the Pens do get swept or lose in 5 i visit be on right here to congratulate the pink wings. i admire the pink wings and appreciate what they have executed yet of course i'm a pens fan first.

People don't think they can do it in the Playoffs because they are young. People don't realize a lot of these players were put of the AHL playoffs last year. That a lot of the bigger name players were "recalled" to Wilkes-Barrie Scranton Penguins(the baby Pens) for their playoff run last year. It gave them some experience on the longer year and playoffs. It didn't give them NHL Playoff experience but they got an idea of how much more intense the game gets as the baby Pens went deep. Also people know to be careful when watching a "hot" team. Espically when the team has gone hot and cold like that through the season. They had been going on winning streaks before long losing streaks. As long as Fluery keeps at this pace they should be fine.

Oh they can win one, they are definately a young team, but have matured about 5 years in half a season. This outstanding team is diversified now, not relying on Crosby and Malkin to do all the scoring. Fluery is on fire in goal, well he let up 4 goals against the flyers last night, but he is rackin up the wins. They will be in 3rd after they catch up to games played by Atlanta, once they beat NJ in the days to come, this team will have all the confidence they can handle. This young and physical team will stun many in the playoffs this year. They want it more, you can just tell. Im giving them 1 in 3 to make the stanley cup finals.

Playoffs are a whole new season and a whole new game. Things that win you a cup are experience, depth, goal tending and coaching.

Pittsburgh doesn't have any of that. A good coach is able to gear his team up for a 7 game series. They concentrate more of the match up that they don't bother to prepare as much during the regular season when you have one game and then on to a different opponent. Typically for a one line team like penguins, they will really check Crosby's line and frustrate you and him. Nobody else will step up in the scoring.

They are fun to watch a pretty good. They should be a contender someday. Hopefully they make the second round this year then 3rd round next year. But I figure lose round one this year, and make round 2 next year.

The Cup might really be a stretch this year for such a young and playoff-inexperienced time aside from a few like Recchi and Gonchar, but 2nd round on even Conference Fianls might be a possibility if the kids keep playing the same (though they're bound to tire from never having played as many games in a year) and the vets step up. Oh, and if Fleury continues to play like the #1 pick they made him, too, finally!

Playoffs are like a new season as many have mentioned. The Pens are young but playing well. They can use a right handed shot, maybe a right handed Defenseman that can solidify the D. Even if they don't do well in the playoffs, this city should be excited. I am a 20 game season ticket holder from last year and the difference in going to games is great. They are sold out through March, and help to sell tickets to other arenas. Let's keep those Pens in Pittsburgh!

I haven't heard the knock, but I have heard surprise at their acheivement thus far.
I believe if the add a scoring winger to complement Crosby (kick malone to the curb) and a Stay at home defensemen, they'll be unstoppable.
Fleury is a superstar in the waiting, some big D n front of the net will make him even better.
They could easily sneak into the finals because they are an emotional and streaky team because of their youth.

It'll be exciting to see if this is their year!

Besides beating some of the best teams in the NHL, they almost lost to THE FLYERS last night
The worst team in the NHL
Allowing the Pitiful Flyers Team to come back and tie the game in the third and force OT and then a Shoot-Out
This, to me, raises some serious doubts about their ability as a team and their commitment to winning games
