Ok, when the only topic of conversation you can have with anyone revolves around your animals, then, yes, you are spending too much time with them (I'm getting close to that point!).
Otherwise, I think it's the only way to think of your pets. They should be a part of the family. People who own animals and just tie them up in the yard or throw a can of cat food outside every few days don't own animals.
My whole clan sleeps in bed with me (three cats and a potbellied pig). I have one cat that gives me kisses. They are my kids and I would do just about anything for them.

Our pit bull sleeps in our rooms (on the floor), but I like to keep him close. When we watch TV, he lays by the couch and actually seems to be watching the TV too.
We hug him, play with him, and cuddle up to him as much as possible. I'll give him kisses on the head or his snout (not his wet nose!), but it's all part of being close with him.
He's a part of the family and we make sure he knows it, but he has limits. It's great that you show your animals affection... they need it and deserve it!
If my husband would let me, the dog would come on car rides with us too. ;)

i have always been like that -- i think its weird that people get all bent out of shape over animals licking them or jumping on them (unless of course they are big enough to knock you over). i think people like to think they can detach themselves from being attached to an animal and they are really ruining the best part of having a pet.
