Five weeks ago this Sunday (about Dec. 31) I took the morning-after pill because a condom failed my partner and I (it broke). We went to the pharmacy first thing in the morning, I got the pills and took them as prescribed. I even had my period Jan. 8, exactly when it would have come (my cycles are usually perfect-28 days). I've taken the M.A. pill before and it screwed with my cycle but didn't this time. So should have started my period this past Monday and haven't. It's almost Friday and I've got no signs of my period coming. I haven't been stressed, haven't changed my eating habits, and haven't done any hard-core working out. What's goin on here? Could I have gotten knocked up even after taking the pill???? I posted this question a week ago or longer, because I've felt..well... pregnant. I took a test last night and it came out negative..but it was also only $1!! What should I do, buy a better test? Wait another week? Can the pill mess up your next couple cycles?

My period has been nearly flawless, coming every 28 days. So if I have it on a monday, I'm going to have it 4 Mondays later. That's how it's been for almost a year. I took the morning-after pill on Sunday, Dec. 31st. and I was due to start my period on January 8th and I did! I thought the pill would cause it to come early or late (like it has in the past) but it was right on time. Now I'm 4 days late, but I had a period after I took the pill so how could I have gotten pregnant? Well, anything's possible with my body. I got pregnant while I was on my period once. I've also had a miscarriage and my body didn't naturally expel it so I had to have surgery. Both are very uncommon occurances, according to my doctor. My track record is already odd, maybe I am pregnant.. I hope so...

You had a period after the incident, you're not pregnant. You've never had a late or a missed period before. That happens all the time, and it doesn't mean your pregnant. Those pregnancy tests are 99.5% accurate.

Firslty the morning after pill can completetly stuff your system up, sometimes your next period comes super late, they normally say you should get your period appro 14 days after taking the pill, not your normal due date....

I am now 10 weeks pregnant and I took the morning after pill so no it isn't 100 percent effective, luckily we both want the baby, but never depend on this as contraception, as I can tell you it doesn't work 100 percent.

And I think your period is suppose to be a month after the last day of your past period, not the day you started your last period, well it is for me anyway, if this is so you are due for your period around the end of this week... if you got pregnant more than 2 weeks ago it should show up on the urine test, if you really think you are pregnant the best thing you can do is go to a doctor and get a HCG blood test, its pretty much fool proof, but like I said you have to be more than 2 weeks pregnant

Best of luck

Emergency contraception is far less effective than regular birth control. That is WHY when it was by prescription only the doctor would have one schedule a follow up appointment about six weeks later in order to make CERTAIN there was no pregnancy. Emergency contraception is not regular birth control . It doesn't even work like regular birth control which regulates your cycle and "hopefully" prevents fertilization. Emergency contraception does NOT regulate your cycle, nor does it prevent fertilization. It (when it works) prevents implantation of an already fertilzed ovum by creating a "fake" period or "mini miscarriage". (In otherwords an abortion). However if the fertilized egg has not yet drifted far enough to implant in the uterus once the "fake" period is over it can STILL implant and there you will STILL be pregnant...that's the problem with emergency contraception being available over the counter now. Women don't think to follow up later on with their doctor and then are "surprised" that they're pregnant.

Call your GYN and ask for a blood test. They could answer your questions better. I did emergency contraception once back in...late 1999...but it was taking a certain number of BCP's and more 12 hours later. Then they told me to just keep taking the pack. I guess they regulated my cycle so I didn't worry about being "late". I got a "withdrawl" period when the pack ended.

You COULD be pregnant, or it could be just stress or a change in your cycle.............a lot of the time, if you have insurance, it is cheaper just to get a blood test from the doc. I know there is that "excitement" of watching the pee test turn from a - to a + or whatever, but when you test "too early" and have to repeat it ....... the appeal goes away.
Anyway, your doc can do a pee test in the office (insurance covers) and then a blood test at the hospital. If you DON'T have insurance and want to wait to have the test done.............then try anohter home test in about a week.
Good luck to you, I hope it turns out like you want

I don't know about the pills but I don't think that anything is 100% especially when it comes to being pregnant. I hope everything turns out OK for you.

Yes, you could be pregnant. Go get tested and examined at a doctor's office.
