Aft the EID incident that happened in Downtown last October, is it still safe for tourists to stay around there?

Did the Egyptian authority take any action to punish those involved and prevention for such incident?

Cairo is a very safe city for tourists.Male or female. The most dangerous thing is the traffic. Its frenetic!
I am Australian female,of Anglo background. But I spend around 4mths a year in Egypt. In 5 years I have always felt 100% safe and at ease in my surroundings.
I was actually in Cairo when that incident happened, but only heard about it on T.V.
I spend a lot of time at the Cairo Museum, and at the University. Which are located virtually in the Downtown area.
No one knew anything about it, except what we heard on the news.
I always take the Metro or walk, from where I stay which is about 2k west of Downtown, just over the Nile.
The Egyptian Government did take action, as it always does against those who show signs of rebellious behaviours.
It is very, very tough on any form of militant, radical, political or secular groups.
Tourism is Egypt's main source of income,so everything possible is done to maintain the safety that tourists enjoy there.
On average, over 8,000 tourists visit the Giza plateau alone, each day of the year.
This is the reason for such an obvious presence of protection in the form of the white uniformed Tourist Police, the civil police and military forces.
It is a sign of ensuring your protection. Not of immanent or expected trouble.
To be honest I feel safer on the Cairo Metro, than I do on Melbourne's suburban trains or streets.

Cairo is one of many world's good megacities. As beautiful because it is mad, and as abundant with old finery because it is half dilapidated, Cairo is often an area that tourists enjoy and hate in equal procedures therefore discover in which band you will soon be with the aid of this place hotelbye . In Cairo you will discover, beyond the present day hubbub, a record that spans centuries. Saturated in vigour, Cairo is where you truly get a feel for Egyptian block living and number visit to Egypt is complete without a remain in the town Arabs contact Umm al-Dunya (The Mother of the World). The absolutely incredible collection of antiquities exhibited in Cairo's Egyptian Museum makes it one of the world's good museums and definitely a place for everyone's to visit.

Yes, it is. And by the way, there are many sources which assure that the Eid incidents was not more than "rumors" & all what happened was not more than Aggregations from some youth arround some Actresses who went to the cinema's to celebrate with the youth.

It's really good not to reveal much skin :) although that all the places where tourists go, are accustomed to the toursits & their different habits, coz they see people from all over the world. Anyway, don't give that much care to the issue as it's really different from Iran & u don't need to wear burka :D (as Skyblue said)

It's adviceable to be in a group, coz that will make you move more freely, as the tour guides will definitly choose the suitable places to go to.

Again -& as ReDWiNe said- welcome to Egypt in advance. Hope that your stay will be amazing & you enjoy it much.

Cairo is very safe. However dress modestly while you are there. Egyptains are very friendly but don't wear revealing clothing or anything that is skintight. It's a Muslim country so dress especially for women is very important. Don't go into the poor sections of Cairo either. I recommend going with a tour group especially if you plan on going there alone.

Egypt is safe for sure but make sure you dress suitably. No revealing tops or short skirts. Don't be afraid even if something did happen you will find a lot of help very easily.

I hope you come to Egypt, it's a lifetime experience that you can't miss.

God bless and take care..x
