This website helped me better understand ovulation. Just go to http://www.mymonthlycycles.com and put in your period info and it will calculate when you will be fertile and ovulating plus it keeps track of your periods and more.

The normal rule would be 14days after day 1 of your menstrual start day. A few signs can range from very slight cramping, stretchy clear discharge, all the way to having the urge to want sex(horny)more than the norm.

I would buy an ovulation test. Those predict when you are most likely to get pregnant.
