Here's a direct link to the IL DOC search page
http://www.idoc.state.il.us/subsections/search/default.asp

And here's a site your brother in law might find very helpful, it has all the rules for mail and visiting for all of the IDOC facilities and he can ask questions if he needs to know something that not already listed.

If I were you i'd type in illinois prison system, it will tell you all the prisons in illinois, see if any of them have a "Inmate Locator" if they do, just type his name in and it will tell you where he is at. If they dont have "Inmate Locator" there will be somewhere that has phone numbers and you can call them and they will either tell you where he is at, or direct you to the people who can.

Find people in prison is actually really easy, because they really cant hide. LOL

Good Luck!

Here is the website for the Illinois Dept. of Corrections.

If you want to find someone just click on the "INMATE SEARCH" button on the left hand side and fill in his name.

Good luck.
