One of the best is "American Pie" by Don McLean. It talks about
"the day the music died," which is about the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Richie Valens. "The Jester" that he talks about is Elvis.
Another would be Ricky Nelson's "Garden Party." He is singing about doing a concert at Madison Square Garden, and all they wanted to hear was new music instead of the old.
Still another would be "I Just Called to Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. He sings about loving someone all year, and all of the things that wouldn't be there without his love---no Halloween, no wedding Saturdays within the month of June.

Rush's "Hemispheres".
It uses images of the Greek gods Dionysus & Apollo to represent the 2 halves of the human brain: the logical side & the artsy, emotional side.
A classic that I'd Highly rec' hearing. Rush are masters at metaphor..
