I mean, her English album was good, but I think it was partly her tragic death that drove the sales up to 5 million copies. Whoosh. That's alot.

Maybe not as famous. When a celebrity dies young, it usually puts them in a special category. They're young life story is frozen in time. They remain young, and the tragic story of their death follows them like a dark shadow. It can create instant, long lasting fame. More fame than what they experienced while they were living.

I think she would've been more famous in Texas where she grew up than the rest of the world. Selena Quintanilla-Perez was an amazing singer!
