I found this awesome bench with a storage box, bu tit must have been used to store somethign as it smells of moth balls. I have 5 Snuggle sheets in it along with a fresh box of baking soda hoping that helps, but it is wood so I'm not sure if it will. Does anyone here know how to get rid of the odor.... thanks for your time!!

I have the perfect solution. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an activated carbon filter inside that is really great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays. I'm not particulary fond of fragrances that just cover up odors and do nothing to get rid of them. Also, most have warning statements on them as eye irritants. Just put a couple of these odor absorbers in the chest and close it for a day.. No messy pieces or carbon powder to worry about. The carbon filter in this product literally eliminates the odors and works for a long time. I use this product everywhere including my fridge and freezer and also under sinks, near trash, closets, drawers and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it and it's not expensive. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying. It's the best product for any odors around the house.

You can sand the inside of your cedar chest to bring back the cedar smell or you can buy oil of cedar and paint it. Either way should cancel the moth ball smell. You could also buy cedar chips (from the pet dept at Wal Mart) and try sprinkling them in there for a few days, this worked with my husbands hunting clothes to remove the smell of wood burning from a bonfire.

Tell them to put some pants on! Oh I just had to say that,I'm so bad. Put some ceader chips in it ,or a small bowl of ammonia will clear the smell away.
